• Latest research shows that databases are doubling in size every few years*, where is this information coming from? Why do we need it?

• The most common cause would be the need for Executive information, used by businesses today competitive advantage. This is the information age after all. Legislation has a big part to play, but the biggest and dirtiest root cause is simple, most databases have no retention policy.

• While the industry has moved on with bigger and faster storage devices, data processing has lagged behind somewhat. When databases don’t perform, the whole organization can suffer. Large databases are challenging, they require different approaches for them to function effectively as part of your data infrastructure.

• Who would have heard of a “Data Warehouse” twenty years ago? These days 100GB databases are common place, indeed most companies will have at least one. Some DSP clients have Tera databases and some partners have Pera bytes of data.
